Inspired by centuries-old practices
Everything is hand-cut and hand-stitched with no reliance on machines. It is imperative to us the same skills are practiced today as they were hundreds of years ago. Paying homage and respecting previous masters of the craft is important to keeping history alive.
The goal to eliminate the use of new, un-recycled products concentrating on plastics. Being environmentally friendly is a top priority, and we believe leather is the most sustainable material. Leather is so durable a wallet will easily last decades. The tanning process is completely natural down to the tanning bath which consists of various tree roots and leaves to naturally soak in those oils for around two months.
Limiting the use of glues and adhesives. Glues are often necessary in leatherworking, but if a handbag or wallet can be finished by stitching only, it’s much easier to repair and/or restore a product and that’s the aim
Veg-tan leather is far more environmentally friendly than most other materials available today, especially plastics. And unlike plastic and metals, it’s one of the few materials that is actually biodegradable and can last many decades with minimal upkeep and repair.
Growing traditionally. Creating for a client is meaningful. Selling to a customer online is not. We prefer to establish long-lasting clients rather than contribute to the constant barrage of “buy me now”advertisements.
Part of that commitment is limiting social media marketing. By dedicating less time to online marketing, it provides more time to honing our craft and creating bigger and better projects.
